Petoro
Petoro uses Total Safety for their annual HSE-day since 2004. Petoro uses a marine theme for their days and since 2005 the arrangement takes place on one of the islands outside Stavanger.
Total Safety has been our partner for several years helping us take the next steps in the right direction.
Arild Stavnem, HSE-Manager.
Focus on HSE
Petoro was established in 2001 to manage the Norwegian state’s direct financial interest on the Norwegian continental shelf. From day one the company management has maintained a strong focus on HSE-issues.
- These are important issues for us both on the internal as well as the external arena in order to establish Petoro as a HSE conscious company. We have a long term strategy on HMS and Total Safety has been our partner for several years helping us take the next steps in the right direction, says Arild Stavnem, HSE-Manager.
Safety Day themes
Over the years, Petoro has developed a very extensive HSE-plan which includes various activities to promote a good internal HSE culture. The Safety Day arranged by Total Safety is only a part of the total picture but is still the single biggest annual event.
- In order to be worthwhile for the entire family the Safety Days need to address themes that engages both the adults and the young ones. Themes that makes you eager to learn more and gives you a positive experience.
Choice of day
In order to get the highest possible participation on their Safety Day Petoro has chosen to have the arrangement just after hours on Monday afternoon. The first day of the week is “internal meeting day” at their office in Stavanger which means that most employees are in the building that day.
- At the end of the working day everybody walks together to a waiting boat in the nearby harbour. We then enjoy a pleasant one hour boat trip with good food and are really set for a Safety Day when we reach our destination.
A strong message from the company leadership
In order to form a strong and lasting HSE-culture within Petoro the management team needs to be enthusiastic and determined to lead the company forward in this matter.
- Our Managing Director always sets aside time in his calendar to join the rest of company on events like the Safety Day. It’s a great opportunity to get to know everyone’s family and to have focus on, and to learn more about important safety issue.
The Total Safety experience
- Over the years we have developed a good partnership with Total Safety We really like the way that Petoro gets to choose the theme for the Safety Day and fills it with just the right activity level. And the best part: we are certain that it will run smoothly and is done 100% right. We are involved in the planning stage of the Safety Day, but when it comes to the actual event every body at Petoro just leans back and enjoys the ride.
